Freudenberg Sealing Technologies Unveils its newest Sustainability Brochure

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has posted its 2023 Sustainability Brochure, detailing the progress it has made towards attaining its sustainability goals, and the company is well on its way to meeting those goals.

Sustainability Brichure 2023

“We are convinced that businesses must take ecological responsibilities for their operations in an age when climate change is not just a looming threat but a present reality,” said Dr. Matthias Sckuhr, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, in an editorial that appears in the new publication. “At our company, we have long recognized that a sustainable approach to our products and processes is not merely a choice but a necessity that drives our innovation, customer value, financial stability, and operational excellence every day.”

The company improved in four of five important environmental indicators, including total energy use per GWh; share of renewable energy being used across the global organization; energy efficiency, measured in kWh per euros and tons of CO2 emitted per million Euros sales. A fifth crucial area, tons of waste per million euros in sales, increased less than a percent between 2022 and 2023 and will be the focus of more ambitious sustainability activities in 2024.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies remains committed to four areas for reducing its CO2: Increasing electrification; reducing and optimizing energy used; increasing its use of green electricity; and seeking renewable solutions throughout its operations. The company’s sustainability program and initiatives fall under the umbrella of its GROWTTH (Get Rid Of Waste Through Team Harmony) operational excellence program.

“In 2023, we made impressive progress towards achieving these objectives,” Sckuhr pointed out. “These activities will help us reach our 2025 goal of a 30 percent reduction in carbon emissions per million euros sales from 2020 levels and complete carbon neutrality by 2045. Through GROWTTH, we have provided our employees with tools, training, and internal lean and continuous improvement experts who are leading our sustainability initiatives throughout the world. We have developed a road map and embedded our projects into our operational excellence culture.”
